Czech Statehood Day

Czech Statehood Day marks the assassination of Duke Vaclav Wenceslas of Bohemia (western Czech Republic). Wenceslas was the Duke of Bohemia and was born in Prague around 907 AC. He was assassinated on 28 September 935 by his brother Boleslav and that date is also his feast day in the Catholic and Orthodox churches. But the historians disagree on the precise year, which thought to be between 929 and 935. Wenceslas known for spreading Christianity among his subjects and helping Prague become the center of trade in central Europe. Wenceslas, a Christian in a pagan environment, understood to have reigned with courage, dignity and piety.

Statehood Day celebrated in the Czech Republic on 28 September. Statehood Day also known as Wenceslas Day. And it is a public holiday.  The day is a combination of state celebrations and religious observances.
