VORW new Schedule AshikMy radio program “VORW Radio International” is regularly broadcasted on shortwave, heard weekly to Europe and North America. VORW new Schedule from June 2017 announced recently.

Please note VORW stands for “Voice Of theReportoftheWeek” – TheReportOfTheWeek is my YouTube Channel which mainly features reviews of various items, as well as talk programs The program features a mixture of talk and music, and is a request-driven show, so the music has a great deal of variety to it.

The open letter from VORM including the VORW new Schedule is as follows:

Dear VORW Radio Listeners,

It has been almost two months since the last newsletter has been sent out in the time that has elapsed there are several schedule changes to report.

As of Thursday (June 1st) transmissions to East Asia on 9875 kHz and transmissions to Europe on 11580 kHz will be discontinued. The transmission on 9875 kHz has been discontinued due to low modulation of the signal, causing listeners difficulty to hear what is being said during the broadcast. The 11580 kHz transmission is being discontinued due to poor signals in the target area.

Despite the bad news, starting June 1st, a transmission on 7730 kHz at 0000 UTC (8 PM Eastern) will begin, targeting listeners in Western North America. This transmission will be heard every Thursday. There is also a new transmission on 7490 kHz at 2200 UTC (6 PM Eastern) every Sunday to Eastern North America – you could even tune in to that broadcast tomorrow!

Thursdays:

a. 6 PM Eastern – 11 PM BST – 9955 kHz to South America
b. 8 PM Eastern – 1 AM BST – 7490 kHz to North America
c. 8 PM Eastern – 1 AM BST – 9395 kHz to North America
d. 8 PM Eastern – 1 AM BST – 7730 kHz to Western North America
e. 8 PM Eastern – 1 AM BST – 9455 kHz to Central America

Sundays:
6 PM Eastern – 11 PM BST – 7490 kHz to Eastern North America

Radio Bulgaria deleted Audio Programs from BNR Web. From 01 June 2017, there are no audio from for German, French and Spanish on BNR web. To protest this decision Radio Bulgaria BNR Staffs wrote Open Letter.  Spanish web of BNR also post the news of ceasing Audio from there web.

BNR Staffs wrote Open LetterOn May 30, Alexander Velev, Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio announced to the staff of Radio Bulgaria the management’s plans to close it down, as it is “a propaganda anachronism from the times of communism”. Mr. Velev stated that the only foreign languages Turkish, Russian and English will not scrap.   

This raises a number of questions, among which:

* If foreign language programming is an anachronism from cold war times, why is it that the public radio stations in a number of countries still have it, among them the Voice of America, the Voice of Turkey, Vatican Radio, Radio Romania International to mention but a few?

* What are the criteria applied in prioritizing certain languages in which there will continue to be foreign language content within the system of the BNR?

We believe that the decision whether to have foreign-language content produced by the Bulgarian National Radio or not, how many languages there should be and which languages is not an administrative prerogative of this or any other management of the BNR currently in office, but is a matter concerning the foreign policy of Bulgaria, its security in the long term.

What about the Future!

Bulgaria is taking over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2018. Radio Bulgaria’s foreign language production has a well-established readership abroad. It is an extremely important information conduit. In this regard, terminating the production in major European languages like French, German and Spanish is nothing if not bewildering.

We consider the decision to terminate Radio Bulgaria to be shortsighted and an end in itself. It is our opinion that the plans of the BNR management should be put to discussion and evaluation, so as to prevent administrative decisions that would be damaging to the face the country presents to the world.

মে ৩১, ২০১৭ বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা ঘোষিত World No Tobacco Day বা বিশ্ব তামাক মুক্ত দিবস। আজকে এই দিবস নিয়ে কিছু লেখার পাশাপাশি তুলে ধরবো ১৯৩৮ সালে দূর্ঘটনায় ধ্বংস হয়ে যাওয়া বেতার La Voz de Tabaco এর কথা।

১৯৮৭ সালে বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা প্রথম ৩১ মে-কে বিশ্ব তামাক মুক্ত দিবস বা World No Tobacco Day ঘোষনা করে।

প্রতি বছর তামাক ও তামাকজাত দ্রব্যের কারনে ৬০ লাখ মানুষের মৃত্যু ও আরও ৬ লাখ পরোক্ষভাবে আক্রান্ত হয়।

বিশ্বব্যাপী সচেতনতা বাড়াতে এ দিবসটা পালিত হয়ে আসছে।

২০১৭ সালের বিশ্ব তামাক মুক্ত দিবসের মূল প্রতিপাদ্য বিষয় হলো  “Tobacco – a threat to development.”।

বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা এবছরের জন্য নিচের উল্লেখ করা লক্ষ্য নির্ধারণ করেছে-

Goals of the World No Tobacco Day 2017 campaign

  • Highlight the links between the use of tobacco products, tobacco control and sustainable development.
  • Encourage countries to include tobacco control in their national responses to 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
  • Support Member States and civil society to combat tobacco industry interference in political processes. And in turn leading to stronger national tobacco control action.
  • Encourage broader public and partner participation in national, regional and global efforts to develop and implement development strategies and plans. And achieve goals that prioritize action on tobacco control.
  • Demonstrate how individuals can contribute to making a sustainable, tobacco-free world, either by committing to never taking up tobacco products, or by quitting the habit.

La Voz de Tabaco বা তামাকের কন্ঠস্বর

আজ বিশ্ব তামাক মুক্ত দিবস। আজকে তাই স্মরণ করছি কিউবার ১৯৩০এর সবচেয়ে বেশী শোনা যেত এমন একটি বেতারকে। La Voz de Tabaco বা তামাকের কন্ঠস্বর কিউবা থেকে প্রচিারিত হতো শর্ট ওয়েভ ও মিডিয়াম ওয়েভে।

 শ্রোতাপ্রিয় এ বেতার পরিচালনা করতো পূর্ব কিউবার তামাক উৎপাদক ফেডারেশন (Federation of Tobacco Growers of Eastern Cuba)।

১৯৩৫ থেকে ১৯৩৯-  La Voz de Tabaco শ্রোতাদের Miss Cuban Cigars ছবি সম্বলিত QSL পাঠাতো। যার বিশেষত্ব ছিল প্রতি বছর একটি নতুন কার্ড  এবং এটা ছাপানো হতো অতি উচ্চমানের তামাক পাতায়।

১৯৩৯ সালে ফেডারেশনের এক প্রাথমিক সদস্য ভাবলেন, তামাক শুকানোর জন্য বেতার সম্প্রচার ভবনের থেকে আদর্শ জায়গা আর হতে পারেনা। এটা যেমন প্রসস্ত তেমনই উষ্ণ। তিনি ট্রান্সমিটারের কাছে তামাক পাতার স্তপ তৈরী করে ফেললেন। ফলাফল- ভয়ববহ অগ্নিকান্ডে ধ্বংস হয়ে যায় এ বেতার কেন্দ্র- যা আর কোনদিন চালু করা সম্ভব হয়নি।

।। মূলকথাঃ তামাক শুধু মানুষ না বেতার কেন্দ্র ধ্বংসের ও কারন  ।।

আজ ঠিক দুই বছর হলো। গত ২৬ মে ২০১৫ খবরটা পেয়ে আমার ব্লগারে লিখেছিলাম- দিলীপ দা – ভাল থাকবেন, শিরোনামে ছোট্ট একটা শুভেচ্ছা বার্তা। কালের খেয়া বেয়ে আজ তা দুই বছরের অতিত হয়ে গেল।

ব্লগার পেইজ থেকে এখানে তা তুলে আনছি স্মৃতি চারণ হিসেবে।

দিলীপ দা – ভাল থাকবেন

২৬ মে ২০১৫, সান্ধ্য অধিবেশনে খবরটা শুনে, হতবিহল হয়ে পড়লাম। স্মৃতির পাতায় খুঁজে পেলাম কত শত স্মরণীয় মূহুর্ত।

রেডিও ভেরিতাস এশিয়া বা আরভিএ-র সাথে আমার গাঁটছাড়া সেই ১৯৮৩ তে। এই ছোট্ট সময়ে ২৩ টা বছরের স্মৃতি, সামান্য হলেও তার পরিমান নেহাত কমনয়। ভরাট কন্ঠ,  স্নেহমাখা সম্মোধন  সব মিলিয়ে স্যালুলয়েড ফ্রেমেবাধানো চমৎকার এক ছবি। কিন্ত রজত জয়ন্তী উদযাপনের আগেই যতি টানতে হলো।

১৯৯৪ এর বর্ষা ভরা এক সন্ধায়, রাজশাহী কারিতাস ভবনে সাক্ষাত। বাংলাদেশ থেকে বানীবদ্ধ করা হবে চেতনার জন্য ইতিহাসের প্রথম নাটক।

বিদ্যুৎবিহীন কারিতাস ভবনে বর্ষায় ধুয়ে যাওয়া সেই সন্ধ্যায় স্ক্রিপ্ট লিখলেন সবুজ ভাই।

একটা ক্যাসেট রেকর্ডার, একটা মাইক্রোফোন আর আমরা ৪ জন অভিনেতা (সুনাম, সেন্টু, জাকির ভাই ও আমি। মাকসুদা আগেই চলে গেছে)। রেকর্ডিং বন্ধ করতে হয়েছে। বৃষ্টি থামে না। রাত ৮ টা প্রায়। ফিরতে হবে বিশপস্‌ হাউস। তিন সাইকেলে আমরা ৬জন রওনা হলা্ম, গন্তব্য ৯ কিমি মাত্র। স্মৃতি চারণ করছিলাম প্রিয় দিলীপদা’র সাথে প্রথম সাক্ষাতকারের। বলা দরকার ঘটনাটা চেতনা অনুষ্ঠানের জন্য বাংলাদেশ থেকে বাণীবদ্ধ করা প্রথম নাটক গাছতলার সেলুন  রেকর্ডিং এর।

এরপর গঙ্গা-পদ্মায় অনেক জল প্রবাহিত হয়েছে। দিলীপ দা’র সাথে কেটেছে অনেক মধুর মূহূর্ত।

চিত্রবাণীর ২টো কোর্ষ করতে সঞ্জিবনী তে রয়েছে একসঙ্গে অনেকগুলো দিন কাটানোর অভিজ্ঞতা।

চিত্রবাণীতেও আছে অনেক দিনের স্মৃতি। আর ১৯৯৫ – ২০০৭ সময়ে এপার বাংলা ও ওপার বাঙলায় হওয়া শ্রোতা সম্মেলন তো আছেই।

সেই দিলীপদা শর্ট ওয়েভে যখন জানালেন, ৩১ মে আরভিএ পরিবার ছাড়ছেন, স্মৃতির সরোবরে বয়ে গেল তপ্ত লু হাওয়া। কষ্টের পরগাছায়, হৃদয় বাতায়ণ ভরে গেলেও তোমার জন্য শুভ কামনা রইল দাদা।

ভাল থেক সব সময়.. এই কামনা শুধু….
